Why does the WMSCOG emphasize the Passover?

Q: Why does the WMSCOG emphasize the Passover?

A: Jesus came to this earth to save all mankind (Lk 19:10). Salvation in the Bible means being free from sin. Before God came, we were all slaves to sin and death. The Passover, God’s law of life, is the greatest gift to humanity because it allows us to receive the forgiveness of sins through the flesh and blood of Christ. This is why the WMSCOG keeps the Passover every year, believing in God’s promise.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus Himself celebrated the Passover as an example for us to follow (Jn 13:15).

“And he said to them, ‘I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer ...’”

Jesus was eager to celebrate the Passover, showing its importance to our salvation. During the Passover, Jesus established the new covenant with the bread and wine as His body and blood.

“Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take and eat; this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’”

Additionally, the Passover promises protection for God’s people, as proven in the history of the Bible, such as the Israelites’ escape from the plagues in Egypt. Those who kept the Passover were saved from disaster, and this promise continues today.

With God’s heart towards all mankind, the members of WMSCOG make effort to invite all people to celebrate the Passover and receive God’s promise of salvation.
