Heavenly Wedding Banquet
Weddings are among the most beautiful, glorious, and joyous occasions in a person’s life. They require careful planning and preparation, with the spotlight firmly on the bride and groom. Guests are carefully chosen and eagerly wait for the bride to arrive. It’s no coincidence that weddings hold such significance and play a pivotal role in cultures around the world.
The Bible tells us that the systems on earth are a shadow to teach us the heavenly things (Heb 8:5). So, we can find that Christ spoke about the kingdom of heaven, comparing it to a wedding banquet (Mt 22:1–10).
In the parable, Christ is compared to the bridegroom. All preparations have been completed—the guests are ready and the banquet is about to start. However, notably, there is no mention of a bride throughout the parable. Naturally, without a bride, there can be no wedding. From this perspective, we can understand that without a spiritual bride, there can be no kingdom of heaven.
Although she did not appear 2,000 years ago, the Bible testifies to the joyous anticipation of the wedding of Christ in the last days when the bride finally makes herself ready.
“‘Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.’ ‘… Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’”
Revelation 21:2
The kingdom of heaven can commence, and God’s people can be invited when the bride is revealed. This exciting moment is expressed by Apostle John as follows:
“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband ... ‘Come I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb … and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.”
Revelation 21:9–10
The Holy City Jerusalem is described as the bride and wife of the Lamb who is the Second Coming Christ, God the Father. Apostle Paul described Jerusalem city, the bride in further detail.
“But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.”
Galatians 4:26
The delightful occasion of a wedding is made possible only when the bride has appeared. This amazing event is taking place now as God the Mother is being made known and God’s people are being called to the kingdom of heaven. God the Father and God the Mother are calling all to come! (Rev 22:17).
