On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Church of God in Middletown teamed up with the Connecticut Blood Center to host a blood drive. This marked the 1,681st worldwide blood drive organized by the Church of God. In total, the volunteers donated 42 pints of blood—enough to save 126 lives.
Serving with Love, Saving Lives
Themed “To Give Life Through the Love of the Passover,” it honored the sacrificial love of Christ, whose blood was shed for mankind and is remembered through the New Covenant Passover. Giving blood is a simple yet powerful act; each pint can save up to three lives, showing love and care for those in need. This blood drive helped address shortages threatening patients across many hospitals and clinics.
The blood drive also featured fun activities for families and children, including a “Guess the Candy” game, trivia, cornhole, and a selfie photo booth with props. Local food donations from pizza, donut, chicken wing, and taco shops kept volunteers energized throughout the day. There were educational panels on display that highlighted the Church of God’s mission and history, as well as the many volunteer services they carry out.
Leaders Moved by Community Kindness
Commissioner Ronnell Higgins of the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) attended the event and donated blood. He said, “The energy here is amazing, I learned a lot about the core focuses, the youth involvement and the impact of your organization. I think it’s really amazing. This event today, has really opened my eyes.”
Johnathan DeCasanova, Account Manager from the Connecticut Blood Center, expressed, “This has been a really great first engagement with the Church of God in Connecticut. The volunteerism that your volunteers have here is really admirable. It has such a direct impact on lives. Thank you for being a donor today and being supportive. These events are critical, blood is always in need, and we are grateful for that.”

I was extremely excited to participate in this blood drive. This really bought the entire community together. Not only our church members were able to participate but even many local businesses joined in by donating food etc. Everyone was filled with energy and excitement with the thought of being able to save even one life. I really hope we are able to continue hosting blood drives in the future at the Church of God in CT.

I needed a lot of blood when I was hospitalized a few years ago, so especially since then, I’ve wanted to give back to as many blood drives as I could. Having participated in dozens with several different organizations, I was very impressed with this one at the Church of God. It was such a warm and comforting experience, and the volunteers were so joyful that their smiles were contagious. I usually feel very lethargic afterwards, naturally, but their vibrant support lifted my spirits even though my body was trying to catch up. So I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of their events in the future

What a wonderful event !! When you think about how many lives can be saved by donating blood it melts my heart to see such great number of young volunteers coming together with one heart and mind to support this cause. Truly the members of the world mission society. Church of God are worthy of admiration for serving their community in this way.
My first time donating blood was at a World Mission Society Church of God blood drive. Since then, I try to donate once a year. It feels great to know that our small efforts are saving lives!
This is an amazing church! If you want to go to an organization where the volunteers are consistent and persistent in what they are doing, this the only place to find that kind of passion. You won’t regret it if you do decide to partake in this amazing organization.
It a event where everyone come together as a family , realizing the importance of donating blood ; not for themselves. But their family’s may one day need blood . I very thankful world Mission society Church of God for putting every effort for this amazing event to be accomplished.

I was very excited to donate blood knowing how many lives can be saved. This event took place in Middletown, CT hosted by World Mission Society Church of God. I was very impressed with how efficient the event was but it makes sense. Over 1600 blood drives they have clearly done this and have lots of practice. I would definitely recommend joining great atmosphere lots of smiling faces. I will be there for the next opportunity to help the community.

This was absolutely amazing and encouraging to read. In America there are so many people that need blood transfusions for various reasons! The church of God has put in great effort to help heal those in need. Through this act of love and support; the church of God will always be there to participate in giving a helping hand!
I am very grateful to have been able to participate in this blood donation event. As with any other event organized by the World Mission Society Church of God, you can feel God’s love. A love that transcends cultures, backgrounds, nationalities to unite people. The collaborative efforts of donors, volunteers, and medical personnel resulted in the collection of blood that will save lives and improve the health of those who need it.
This is one of the best events I have ever attended, because I was able to see the love in each member of the Church of God.
I was so moved because they donated blood to save many people who are in need of blood just as Crist want to save all his people around the world,Our members of The Church Of God are putting in to practice the Teaching of God “Love your neighbors as yourself” and helping those in need of blood, is not easy to find donors but when it comes to the members of the church of God everyone come to give blood and this is so amazing and loving
I can say that the World Mission Society Church Of God keep the True teachings from the Bible and put it in to practice.

The blood drive was very well put together, and it was delightful how the Church of God hosted what can seem like a nerve-wracking procedure—at least for me, lol. They were able to make the whole experience fun and worthwhile, especially by taking the time to inform me of the difference I’m making in helping to save a life. Wow what an amazing event. I am so happy people are willing to donate. My dad donated his lungs and the recipient was able to continue living a happy, healthy life. I will certainly join in the next live saving donation day.

This was such a gracious event , I can appreciate how accommodating the atmosphere was. I don’t think I’ve been in a blood drive where there were too many volunteers ! Honestly , you can feel the overwhelming wave of passion to help others through events like these
I thank all of the volunteers from the bottom of my heart because with all three of my pregnancies my iron levels dropped in the danger zone and I needed infusions immediately. If it were not for these donations, I would not be able to deliver my healthy babies. Thank you Church of God for continuing to save lives.
